Product Description

The AT&T SL82318 DECT 6.0 Corded/Cordless Phone with Three Handsets and Answering System offers unsurpassed range, sound quality, and security, thanks to its use of DECT 6.0 technology, a newly available frequency band that does not suffer from interference from home appliances and wireless networks. The system comes with three handsets; you can transfer calls between handsets, and all three handsets can be off-hook simultaneously. If you need to expand, the base can support up to 12 separate handsets.

A built-in digital answering machine system records messages on microchips for reliable performance, instant access to messages, and the ability to selectively save and delete messages. The phone supports caller ID and call waiting. The Speakerphone is built right into the handset, making it more convenient than having to sit by the base as many other Speakerphone systems require. You can select from various ringtones, and the phone system is wall-mountable.

This cordless phone is the best phone we have ever had. The range is wonderful and the sound clarity is unsurpassed. We have a large home and can now walk from one end to the other without any static or being dissconnected. This is the first cordless phone that has ever been able to do so. The answering machine part of the phone is crystal clear and very easy to use. Would recommend for anyone!!!!

This phone replaced a older 2.4Ghz Panasonic phone/answering system. While the Panasonic was working fine, it was downright WiFi hostile. My wireless LAN would crash when the phone came on. Being in a different band, this phone fixed all of that.

Functionally, it works well. The sound is good, the answering machine works well, the range is fine.

I’ve had the AT&T phone for a little more than a month now and it’s definitely the best cordless phone I’ve had so far in terms of range and sound quality. I got the model with 4 handsets and I’m going to get a 5th. I bought this one based on the postive rating by Consumer Reports; it’s rated as the one with the best range for DECT 6.0. I’ve got the base on the first floor and have had the handset working 500ft into the woods. For comparison I’ve got a 5.8 MHz that starts fading out at 20FT from the house and an older 2.4 that would only go about 200FT from the house. The digital technology provides for crystal clear sound with no background noise or static; it’s corded sounds quality without the cord. The speaker phone works well and the built in intercom is a nice feature. The intercom allows any handset to call any other handset and have a conversation just like any other phone call.

Although I had read that the low volume was an issue in other reviews, I found the majority of comments so positive that I decided to buy this phone anyway. It was a gift for my Mother who seems to have more problems with telephones than could be humanly possible. So I spent hours reading reviews and decided that this AT&T was going to be the one! However once we tested it, it was obvious that the volume concern was in fact a major issue. After 2 minutes of yelling across the phone lines, we decided this needed to be returned.

Just got this phone less than a month ago and when used, all of sudden the phone stops working and it is so embarrassing for the other party on the phone whom you are talking to. I have to call to explain that I did not hang up on them, but rather its the phone. I dont know what’s wrong. I contacted the customer service to complain and am still waiting for the response. I am so unhappy with this purchase. So, I am going back to the old phone.

No complaints about range, quality, etc… The sound is very clear and speaker phone works great. I do have a few gripes based on features.

1) I’m annoyed that I cannot listen to my voice messages through the hand set. I keep my base unit in my office, and must use it to pick up the voice messages.

2) There is no battery life indicator on the handsets. It would be helpful to see the remaining battery life (like on every cell phone!)

3) The hand set is somewhat small and light. I frequently cradle the phone on my shoulder to talk while I’m typing. The phone is somewhat wedge shaped, and is not conducive to this method of support.

This is a great phone if you can live with the missing features.

We have had the AT&T Dect 6.0 phone set for quite awhile now and we are very pleased with the product. Very nice clarity, good answering system, and styled nicely. I would and have recommended it to others.

I have been using the system for about 3 weeks and so far it is awesome, excellent clarity and also good range, which has turned out to be somewhat of a problem with cordless phones of late. All manufacturers seemed to have removed the antennas from them while at the same time increasing the gigahertz and that turned out to be a deadly combination that drastically reduced the range from what we used to get on the old 900 phones which had antennas. Since this one is a 1.9 and also has an antenna, I have my range back!

The phone is very user friendly and easy to set up. I cannot say enough good things about it (albeit I have only used it 2 or 3 weeks now. I had first bought a Panasonic 1034 dect 6.0 set. AWFUL range, awful reception. Calls would just go dead in the house for no apparent reason. I returned that set and tried this one and so far have been pleased.

I’ve had this system a few weeks now, and am generally pleased with it. The handsets are sleek and each one has a speaker. The answering machine works great, and everything was easy to program.

There are two drawbacks that are slightly annoying. One is that the volume of the voice seems low even at the highest level. The phones don’t have a very loud ring, either. The other is that there are no speed dial buttons. The system programs your favorite phone numbers the way it chooses, not you, and there is no quick way to locate your number.

The service from Amazon was, as usual, quick and effecient!!

I bought this a few weeks ago, and it’s the first cordless phone I’ve ever owned (believe it or not). I always preferred regular phones for the sound quality, but I moved into a new apartment where I couldn’t use the phone jacks (long story about wiring) and so had cable-phone installed. I read a lot of reviews, hoping that the quality would be reasonable. Well, it’s fantastic! Clear as a bell — I can’t tell I’m not using a traditional phone. I’ve had no difficulty with the phones picking up at either end of the apartment (through several walls). Battery life seems great (I can’t imagine I’d ever talk long enough to deplete it before recharging). Answering machine works good, etc. I’ve heard some people complain that the volume isn’t good enough — I personally have had no difficulty with the volume level whatsoever and don’t even need the highest setting. My only complaints are very minor:

1. Parts of the phone and phone base are designed with black print on a dark grey background. Can’t see it without shining a bright light on it! Luckily this isn’t for the numbers on the phone, just some of the lesser used settings (see the photos of this product). But what designer came up with that?!?! I’m a designer myself, so find it particularly offensive. Good contrast is very important. However, this is not enough to cause me to turn away from a really good product.

2. If it’s important to you to be able to name the handsets or to have interesting ringtones, you won’t like this product. I personally don’t care much about that although it would have been nice.

I guess those are my only complaints. And by the way, the speaker phone works great! I love that each handset has its own speaker phone. You only need the base for the answering machine. If you prefer not to use the answering machine, the phone will also alert you if you have voicemail through your phone company. I prefer the answering machine since I still like to screen calls the old-fashioned way. :-) I’m old-school, but I still think this is a fantastic product. This is high praise from me — I turned 38 before I bought my first cordless phone because my sound quality standards are high!!! :-)

Thanks! Highly recommended!

Got these phones a few weeks ago – they work great. Sound quality is fine, no problems with range, battery life is good, setup was easy. Only complaint is that I wish they offered a version with a corded base. I like to at least one phone in the house where I know I can find a handset!

The phones are exceptionally easy to install, work with, and deliver all the promised features. I will admit the highest volume is just barely loud enough if you’re in a noisy environment, but great for day to day use.

Highly recommend this phone system.

Crystal clear, good value, excellent battery life, very happy. Would buy again. Battery lasted 7 days with moderate to heavy usage. Program one phone and the others are done automatically.

We purchased this phone in December and have been very pleased with its performance. This phone receives a strong signal from our neighbors house 2 houses down (approx 250 ft from base. You hear some static when you get any further. One nice feature that I have liked is the voicemail notification on the handsets and base unit when used with VM. We tried the answering machine and it worked very well but have gone to Voice Mail with our phone company. I would recommend this phone.

The handsets are rather flimsy and human voices come through with a decidedly tinny sound;no problems with interference from other electronic devices

Excellent phone with good range and plenty of features. Answering device is top notch. The lowdown: Speakerphone. Quality of sound through the speakerphone is C-minus. The speakerphone on my previous Panasonic was A-minus. It had more lifelike clarity. Otherwise, not an outstanding product from AT&T, but excellent nonetheless. (Panasonic phone was retired after 8 years of service with its original batteries – RIP).
