Beautiful to see and hear! This is my second subwoofer, the other being a 1990s 12″ down-firing AR still used for my main home theater system. This is as good if not better. My background includes professional work at a government acoustical research facility, broadcast radio, music production as a musician both acoustic and electronic. Accurate sound production is important to me. My preferred music to play and listen is pipe organ and electronic sythesizer both of which span the entire human audible range. This beast does the job (provided you are not trying to fill the volume of a church or concert hall) for my critical ears. I am a long time physics teacher (translation: not rich) so the price is right as well. Prosumer gear here. I got it to produce and monitor the low virtual pipe organ sounds from my pro-grade synthesizer workstation.

I bought this subwoofer as a gift for my husband who is heavily into music, and knows what he likes in his sound quality. He chose it for Polk’s great reputation and for its furniture-style cabinet in a woodgrain that coordinates with the furniture in the room. It was easy to hook up. It is hooked into our sound system for the TV and stereo, and we just watched “This Might Get Loud”. Wow! This subwoofer delivers a great dynamic range – from the soft, mellow notes to the ones that hit you over the head. I recommend this subwoofer to all music enthusiasts.

This is my first subwoofer for the home and I am thoroughly impressed with the bass response and accuracy. For the first three days I had it placed in the corner facing the same directions as my Polk R50 Towers (which match well). The corner loading produced muddy boom which wasn’t really aggravating just not my kind of thing.

I enjoy tight bass more than boom, so I moved it between my right speaker and TV, amazing still! The down firing port means no evident port noise. I have experienced none and that is from about a month of loud drum and bass, hip hop and walking bass lines found in Jazz music. You are going to love the low rumble and punch found in movie explosions and heavy vehicles running in the background!

I am running it speaker level input utilizing the crossover at about 75hz. I have great control of the output with the level knob set at less than half and phase set to 180 degrees. I would buy a second if I didn’t live in a duplex!

The finish is Cherry veneer but I think that is to be expected for a sub at this price point?

Oh yeah and of course I received it within 2 days with Amazon Prime two day shipping. Normally there is a shipping charge!

Got this for my HT room a few days ago and it was a breeze to set up. It sounds excellent paired with my Onkyo TX-SR507 and with adjustable crossover, level & polarity, the sound is highly tweakable.

As a side note it looks great in my room, but is a bit bigger than I had expected – it’s basically big enough to be an end table, which in fact it now is serving as! This is just something to consider when you purchase. If you feel this might be too big, you might want to consider the smaller (and cheaper) 10-inch model.
